Mid-July

Here's Leo's most successful picture taken so far. He really loves to take pictures.

The week has been a challenging one for us and I hope we all get some time to relax over the weekend. Tuesday morning my brother, Mike, got picked up for his umpteenth DUI (he's already a felon because of these) and I assume with be going back for a few years as a guest of some county's corrections department. It's really sad, especially since we had talked with him a number of times and reminded him that the path he was on had an inevitable outcome. I'm relieved that he didn't hurt anyone in an accident and all we can do now is hope the universe watches over him.

Right on the heels of that news I got a call from my Dr. about the MRI I had last week on my hurt ankle. There is, indeed, a stress fracture on the outside lower end of my tibia. So my running goals for the fall are very likely out the window. I'd be hard pressed to be able to do them now, but maybe I can just set a private goal for later in Oct or Nov for the same distance or find a suitably dated race. I'm glad I found out before I spent the 70$ to get into the twin cities 10-mile. So I spent the week grieving that and went and bought a bike helmet & lights for our communal bike and went for a bike ride instead. If I can keep up the cardiovascular stuff, it won't be that hard to transition back to running in a couple months. Injuries are never fun and I am feeling pretty humbled and sad about this one taking me out of my new sport and trying to look forward to getting back into it soon.

We got some good news this week - Eric's medical FINALLY came thru. We don't have it in out hot little hands, I'm doubtful he will be able to work this weekend, but who knows, it could happen. The dropzone has so much staff this year all the tandem instructors are only working every other weekend or so. But there's not much we can do about that so we'll just take what we can get.

Leo is doing really well and this will likely be his last week and MacDonald Montessori. I loved this preschool so much and so did he, but it's like a band aid - I just need to rip it off and get out of there. I hope the transition to the new one is smooth and I'm glad it's a lot closer, we can actually walk there in the mornings and walk home in the afternoons.

That's it. I'm not sure what's going on this weekend so I'll have to report when it's over.
smiles to all...
