We have some sad news in our family right now. Eric's maternal grandmother is likely in the last few days of her life. She is in the hospital in Cannon Falls, where she grew up and lives with Grandpa and their grown son, Uncle Duane.
I have some special memories of her of my own, strangely because of the connection to my own maternal grandmother. A few months after Eric and I started dating, he took me down to meet his grandparents, before I even met his mom and dad. See, Eric new how much I missed my own grandparents, all gone now on both sides, so he took me to meet his. They welcomed me as Eric knew they would and we have always made sure to go down and see them as often ass we could. Last summer they let me grow a big produce garden down on the farm and Grandma would often get a ride on the little tractor to come out and see what Leo and I were up to. She was always very interested in what project I was working on at the time, knitting or whatever, and my memories of my time with her are something I will always treasure. I'm so glad Leo got to spend some time with her, and while he is still pretty young and might not remember her, I hope he remembers the feeling of warmth from his Great Grandma. Bless you, Grandma Jean.
