Yesterday was one of the funnest days I've had in a some weeks. It was rainy and Eric had the day off, so he met us at the MN zoo. We wandered through everything and saw things I had never seen out there including the farm exhibit and the very cool new Russian coast exhibit. We took a few pics I will include. Leo had a great time and Eric enjoyed time with his boy and partner.
The weekend went well and the early part of the week. I didn't make it out to the dz. Frankly I just haven't been feeling very motivated to jump the last couple weeks and I've been enjoying this last part of the summer with my son. It was good for us to go up and visit with Eric's folks. They are leaving on a trip to go out and visit more family out west, including Eric's brother, Matt, and his talented wife, Brigid, and their two children who live in Seattle. I'm jealous because I miss them and wish we could afford a trip out there. I miss Washington and the country in between and hope we can take a trip out there next year. Monday we drove Eric's car out to my dad's to work on it some and I got a flat tire on the way. I'm so grateful to be a woman who knows how to do stuff. It only took me 15 or 20 minutes to change to the donut and we were on our way again. Leo loves to be a helper, turning lug nuts and the like. I always try to give him a job because it would just break his heart if he wasn't included in things. Besides, it's a good trait to foster and support in children and fun to be interactive with him.
We had a death out at our dropzone this weekend. I don't know a lot of the details, but it seems it was just a badly misjudged landing for a very nice skydiver I knew only in passing. He was a father with young children, but I don't know the details of that. We will be going out for a memorial service tomorrow in the afternoon and I look forward to being able to support fellow skydivers in their grief.
warm thoughts...
